Welcome to the research laboratory

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

Description of the research areas of the laboratory

"Sustainable Design of the Built Environment"

"Energy and Environmental Design of Buildings"
The laboratory deals with the impact of architectural design on the building energy balance. It participates in research programs on the design of low-energy buildings, in committees related to energy saving and supports the design of passive heating-cooling systems, natural/artificial lighting. It has equipment for thermal comfort measurements as well as software for energy simulations and lighting system design.

"Acoustic Design"
The SD+BE Lab develops research and studies in the field of acoustic design of the built environment. Quantitative tools (from room acoustics, environmental acoustics, building acoustics) and qualitative tools (sound object, sonic effect, soundscapes) are applied in the context of architectural and urban development projects (creation of new spaces and restoration).

“Architectural Design and Digital Construction”
The laboratory’s research unit deals with Building Technology, Automation in Construction and technologically advanced structural systems.
