Description of Research Fields

Laboratory of "Sustainable Design of the Built Environment"

Energy and Environmental Design of Buildings

The laboratory deals with the impact of architectural design on the building energy balance. It participates in research programs regarding low-energy building design, committees related to energy conservation, and supports the design of passive heating-cooling systems and natural/artificial lighting. It is equipped with thermal comfort measurement devices as well as software for energy simulations and lighting system design.

Acoustic Design

The SD+BE Lab develops research and studies in the field of acoustic design of the built environment. Quantitative tools (room acoustics, environmental acoustics, building acoustics) and qualitative tools (sound object, sonic effect, soundscapes) are applied within the framework of architectural and urban development projects (creation of new spaces and restoration).

Architectural Design and Digital Fabrication

The research unit of the laboratory focuses on Building Technology, Construction Automation, and technologically advanced structural systems.
